সিদ্ধিরগঞ্জ প্রতিনিধিঃ সিদ্ধিরগঞ্জে রয়েল টোব্যাকো নামের একটি প্রতিষ্ঠানে অভিযান চালিয়ে ২০ লাখ অবৈধ সিগারেট ও ২০ লাখ পিস নকল ব্যান্ডরোল উদ্ধার করেছে র্যাব।
রোববার (৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) নারায়ণগঞ্জের নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট আরাফাত মোহাম্মদ নোমান এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেন।
এর আগে শনিবার দুপুরে সিদ্ধিরগঞ্জের গোদনাইল এলাকায় অভিযান চালায় র্যাব। অভিযানে তিনজনকে ১৫ দিনের জেল ও একজনকে সাতদিনের কারাদণ্ড দেওয়া হয়। জব্দ করা নকল ব্যান্ডরোল সংযুক্ত অবৈধ সিগারেট ধ্বংস করা হয়। এসময় জাতীয় ভোক্তা অধিকার সংরক্ষণ অধিদপ্তরের নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলা কার্যালয়ের সহকারী পরিচালক মো. সেলিমুজ্জামান উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
এ বিষয়ে আরাফাত মোহাম্মদ নোমান জানান, দীর্ঘদিন ধরে রয়েল টোব্যাকো নকল ব্যান্ডরোল ব্যবহার করে অবৈধভাবে সিগারেট উৎপাদন ও বাজারজাত করে আসছিল। সরকার নির্ধারিত সিগারেটের সর্বনিম্ন মূল্য ৪৫ টাকা হলেও তারা ১৫-২০ টাকা প্যাকেট সিগারেট বিক্রি করেছিলেন। অথচ সিগারেটের প্যাকেট প্রতি সরকারের ৩০ টাকা রাজস্ব পাওয়ার কথা। এছাড়া প্রতিষ্ঠানটির পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তরের ছাড়পত্রও নেই।
